June 12th

Today we went to Kapsoya and taught Sunday school to the kids during the english service. We took our two small lessons that we colored. I taught about "When God Created Everything" and Danika taught about "The First Easter". We didn't show up prepared for much else than reading our stories...that was a bad idea haha. When we finished reading our stories, they asked us questions... and they were very smart. Then the teacher, Edwin, summarized our teachings and then we went up for them to ask us more questions. However, then the students decided they wanted us to ask them questions. So I asked them if they knew who Cain and Abel were and they sure did. Then they started asking if Adam and Eve had daughters and who Samuels father was and all of these smart questions. They are sharp children who really deeply and truly know the Word of God even though some of them don't even own Bibles. It touched me how much they know the Word of God. So many of us in America have Bibles that just sit on the shelf and get dusty. These kids don't even own Bibles and they know it better than the majority of the adults sitting in the pews on Sunday and these kids are only 8-12 in the class we worked with.
They know what the Bible says, they read it and memorize and these kids end up walking with the Lord their whole lives. Grandma keeps telling us how she had most of these kids in nursery school and now they are following God still to this day. Reading the Bible and indulging in the breathed Word of God makes all the difference. Obedience. Obedience and spiritual discipline is what it takes.
I learned more in that class than I had the chance to teach the kids and it was a blessing. It brought a lot of perspective in less than an hour.
And I praise God for that.
Bwana Asafiwe :)
